Persistence and Perseverance- Key to Achievement

Brain Tracy explains that a person must stick to persistence and perseverance. They must learn how to get back from the state of failure. At the same time, one must have the ardent desire to be a successful professional who will be held in a high esteem in society. “Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.”—Longfellow. Therefore, someone must be industrious and assiduous to strengthen the platform of their professional career. They must have a hard nut to crack mentality to win the race.  In this connection, Jack Palance said in the film “City Slickers”, “The secret to life is to pick one thing and stick with it.”

However, one should not discard the importance of failure to achieve success. Failure means experiment which will help someone to surface the weak points of a themselves. “To understand our past mistakes and to neutralize the feeling of shame or guilt over our past inadequacies, we must understand that the acts we commit are neither good nor bad but are only wise or unwise depending upon our particular awareness at that time.”–Thomas D. Willhite. One should learn a lot from their past mistakes and they must design their life in such a way that in the future they can overcome hurdles and obstacles in life comfortably without inviting a debacle.

In this connection, one can remember the mind blowing statement of Jim Rohn. “Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event. You don’t fail overnight. Instead, failure is a few errors in judgment, repeated every day.” In addition, in The Active Life, Parker Palmer has divulged excellently that in the west fixation of general people on success prevents them from taking risk. They value success suppressing the learning. They think that failure is negative and it should be avoided instead of getting any lesson from such mistakes. Parker further says that one should think properly regarding the success paying much heed to the hidden mistakes. He must learn a lot from his previous error.
