Father's Day Poems From Kids Are Special to Dads

On the third Sunday in June (June 21 in 2009), America will celebrate Father’s Day. It’s a chance for children and spouses to say thank you for all of the things dad contributes to the family, but most importantly, it is a day to honor dad simply for the man that he is.

For some, the celebration is ornate and filled with presents, but for others, it’s a simple observance. Even if you aren’t using unsecured loans for fast cash to buy a present, you can still do something special for dear old dad. If you’d like to make a card for him on your computer, here’s a template to get you started. Since they’re PDF files, you can’t edit them directly. A little history

For the longest time, I had no idea how Father’s Day got started. Not that that hindered my Father’s Day celebrations with my own father (and now my children) in any way, but it’s interesting to know the origins of holidays and such. According to the Web site Making Greeting Cards, it all began in Spokane, Washington in 1909. A woman named Sonora Louise Smart Dodd decided that her father Henry needed a day on which she could honor him. While she was in church listening to a Mother’s Day sermon, the idea naturally occurred to her.
