Waste Not the Blueberry Pancakes

This weekend I made walnut and blueberry pancakes and I decided to make some for my three dogs. I have a Border collie who is a fussy eater, an Australian red heeler who will eat anything including your leg, and a Jack Russell terrier who falls somewhere in the middle. I took three pancakes out onto the front porch and placed one in front of each dog. The Border collie wouldn't have anything to do with hers; the heeler ate the cake but left the blueberries; and the Jack Russell ate her blueberries but left the cake.

I went into the kitchen to get a wet sponge to clean up the mess and came back to find the heeler eating the border collie's cake and leaving the blueberries, the Jack Russell eating the heeler's leftover blueberries, the cat eating the Jack Russell's leftover cake, and the border collie a few feet away, crouched and at the ready to correct the first the first false move.

I took the sponge back into the kitchen. When I came back out, the cat and the Jack Russell were working on the Border collie's blueberries leftover by the heeler, and the Border collie had narrowed her focus and was lying just a couple feet away from them, head between her front paws, staring intently.
