College is getting out soon – where will the students end up?

The 2009 college year will soon end.

Are employers ready and waiting?

It's a problem that comes around from time to time. The college kids we've been educating and grooming for the real world are about to step onto it and there's a job crisis waiting to greet them. What now?

What to do?

Imagine the disappointment of the new engineer, architect or lawyer. He or she has slaved and studied for the past 5 or 6 years and suddenly it's all over. Out of jail! They hit the street running and full of enthusiasm and run straight into a brick wall. There are no jobs. Not in this town and not in any town.

And the money invested?

What about the money that was invested in the college education by the student or by his parents? According to articles on the internet, college fees are rapidly becoming unaffordable. But the student graduated and now there are loans to be repaid, and if the student took the loan himself, his problem is even worse – trying to pay it back without a decent job.

This is a case where a Personal Loan will hardly make a dent in the amount owing.

What happens?

The brand new engineer starts looking for a job. He begins by calling his friends who are already working, he tries links through the college and he calls all the engineers who once patted him on the head and said, "Call me when you're ready to work." There is little engineering work on the drawing boards and even the major offices are retrenching. Our new engineer persists and eventually finds a job that's not exactly in engineering but on a construction site. It's a low level job and it pays minimum wage. He hates it, but he's working and making a few bucks. This is not how he saw his future in engineering. What happened to the bridges and railroads and tower blocks? ... click here to read the rest of the article titled "College is getting out soon – where will the students end up?"
