This morning, I walked into my meeting. I sat down in my seat just to have the person who sits next to me say, "Hello. How was your weekend?" As I stared straight she said, "Hello?" and repeatedly tried to get my attention. She acted extremely confused as she tried to get my attention. Finally, she just looked forward as I was doing while the meeting began. The next thing that happened was that my boss asked me a question. I was unsure if I should respond or continue with the experiment. I decided to continue with the experiment. I just stared straight past him at the board. He seemed extremely confused that I was not responding considering I am generally very responsive. I felt as though my job would suffer as I ignored my boss. This may have been a rude way of doing things but decided I might as well continue with my experiment to see what the reactions of people might be.
I went to my next meeting. I walked into the room as one of the first people there as usual. My coworker said hello and I just sat down without any kind of greeting. He asked how I was doing and I gave him no intimation as to how my day was going. He then gave up and began to talk to another person in the room. A girl who usually sits next to me walked in and said hello. I stared straight off into space. She asked me a question about our reading and I continued to ignore her presence. She gave me a weird look as she tried to get my attention and then turned and asked somebody else. I decided that I had hurt enough people and quit doing my experiment.
