Ann Arbor News to close, replaced by AnnArbor.com
Jeff Jarvis of BuzzMachine reports that yet another newspaper is ready to bite the wax tadpole and go the way of New Coke. I used to work in the industry; now I write about payday loans, but I still feel for them.
The Ann Arbor News has announced that it will close in July and will be replaced by a completely new company, AnnArbor.com.
Jarvis can well be considered an insider in this, as he admits that he has been advising the changeover project and used to work for the parent company. From the publisher's letter:
The Ann Arbor News… will publish (its) last edition in July, when a new company called AnnArbor.com LLC will begin sharing local news and information with the community.
In July, AnnArbor.com will be born as an incredible community resource online, in print and around town. Like Ann Arbor, it will be a special place for everyone in the community to learn about, participate in and share everything that's going on in our area. ... click here to read the rest of the article titled "Ann Arbor News Sinks Into the Newspaper Tar Pits"
